A handful of remixes for others...

Twelve random records I picked up and thoroughly enjoyed during 2016... You can hear and read a run through of my selection over here:

Back around 2009 I was doing the We Change The Frequency; nights (archive of tracklistings and recordings to follow sometime!) at the Open House pub in Brighton, and one Sunday evening a lady approached while I was quietly selecting. She complemented the music and atmosphere and said she felt it all had quite a kinaesthetic feel. It was an unusal and intriguing way of putting it, and it stuck with me. I had failed to settle on a 'DJ name' for years prior, so not long after that I began using the name 'Kin;Aesthetic' when DJing and putting on events in Brighton.

Later in 2013 when I decided to start the label, Kin-Aesthetic Recordings felt like the obvious choice, particularly because I loved the 3-way meaning (kin / aesthetic / kinaesthetic) and how it neatly captured something of the multi-layered motivations and intentions behind the endeavour.

In hindsight, the naming similarity between artist (Kin;Aesthetic) and label name (Kin-Aesthetic Recordings) didn't, and doesn't necessarily help with clarity or distinction... Still, as the two are inextricably linked and weighted with commitment and purpose, both stubbornly remain!
