Interpretations and Remixes

Six remixers re-ignite each of King Lagoon’s prime grooves,
plus 2 further feature length performances...

Bunty with David entice us back to Volcano Lagoon with a latin-swung electroton rhythm, beautifully embellished with Bunty’s own lyrical style, while Alphabets Heaven impressesa typically dexterous, sub-heavy, broken-beat, brassy bounce onto Ai, Que Calor!.

Ani Kcam whips up the palpable desert energy of Magic Sand, twisting and distorting into a relentless, percussive alien swarmer, before zillagramwiches anaesthetises Gazelle Vs Gazelle into an intensely woozy, tightly wound, late-night street beat.

Proprio shifts One Leg into a deep dubby cave, a wailing saxophonic collage, sparse voxand echoing percussion obey the synth-bass groove, until DJ Eggs Legs raises the spirits, revealing 100 000 Islands as an extended percussive thumper, hot electronic flourishes and electric licks invite the dance.

Finally two unique performances; King Lagoon’s Flying Swordfish & Friends - Levitation Improvisation [Rodrigo Kerr (Various Sounds), Don Benjamin (Sax), Pete Piskov (Flute), Iain Paxon (Synth)] a free floating, spiritual exotica piece with aromas of psychedelic jazz.

Then closing the release with a piece by zillagramwiches & mariolenard, propelling us into a weightless otherworld orbit, a panoramic space walk of epic proportions, incorporating and reinterpreting the interludes from The Golden Lagoon LP.

The Golden Lagoon

King Lagoon's Flying Swordfish Dance Band truly inhabit their own outernational realm,

filtered through Psych-Tropique fantasy, post-exotic atmospheres and Batucada Carnival colours. Welcome to…

Regally dressed with pulsing Latin percussion, whirling Soukous funk electrics, Rumba bass lines,

and Psychedelic brass freakouts, nestling between Martin Denny, Yma Sumac and Eden Ahbez -esque island exotica.

§

The culmination of 6+ years of energetic recordings and fantastically wild, aroma-filled live performances across the UK at the likes of Bestival, Shambala and Tropical Pressure festivals, The Golden Lagoon arrives as a flowing, cross-continental drift of an LP, carried by bandleader Rodrigo Kerr's passion for his South American roots and the collective's tight embrace of Afro-Latin rhythms and psychedelic imagination.

The Golden Lagoon is packed with unbound passion and explosive arrangements;

drums thump, bells & whistles fly, heavy-shaken rhythms skirt post-punk flashes, brass harmonies dance with rousing Portuguese chants...

§

Join us as King Lagoon' bring their own thrilling Afro-Latin festivities to an undiscovered isle somewhere between Rio, Kinshasha and Brighton!
